General Information

Whether you are looking to begin or advance your career in the field of nursing, the NewCourtland School of Practical Nursing can offer you a comprehensive, technology-driven curriculum in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, the Practical Nursing program offers part-time programs that give working adults the opportunity to become a Practical Nurse in only 18 months.

Conveniently located within our 13.5 acre Germantown-based NewCourtland Education Center campus, the newly opened state-of-the art School of Practical Nursing is adjacent to public transportation and offers safe on-site parking.

Our innovative lab instruction includes advanced simulation, in which a patient simulator is used to enhance critical thinking, problem solving and learning activities.  Upon completion, you will be ready to take your state license and become an LPN.  From there, you can transition into higher learning to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or earn Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees.

Individual student attention is key, as our class sizes are limited.

Classes are held Monday to Thursday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Programs:
There are two tracks to the Practical Nursing curriculum the Practical Nursing Traditional Track and the Practical Nursing Pathway Track.

Students in both tracks receive the same high-quality nursing education, core nursing courses (Nursing I-V), evidence-based nursing practice and a clinical experience.  Required general education courses for the Pathway Track are taught by faculty from the Community College of Philadelphia and carry college credit.
