Two former top officials at Washburn University have settled their lawsuit against the Kansas institution, its board, and its president, a year after they said they had been wrongfully fired after speaking frankly with board members about the president’s performance. According to The Topeka Capital-Journal, the two officials—Robin E. Bowen, who was vice president for academic affairs, and Wanda Hill, who was treasurer and vice president for administration—will be paid a total of more than $210,000 and will receive letters of recommendation from the president, Jerry B. Farley. The agreement settling the lawsuit also forbids the parties to disparage one another. Since they lost their jobs at Washburn, both Ms. Bowen and Ms. Hill have found work as vice presidents elsewhere in academe.
